We're buying things with crypto cards in AUD, USD, EUR and GBP from October and comparing what each card takes with the mid-market rate. What this card actually charges will show here and in our Q4 report.

Our research notes
Pass 2, researched 27 Sep 2026 from documents opened and saved (evidence/bybit-card-eu in the Q4 report pack); file created 28 Sep 2026 after the founder decided (D18) to keep the EEA card apart from the bybit.com Bybit Card file. MODELLED PROGRAMME: the Bybit EU card, a euro Mastercard debit card for EEA residents with a Bybit EU account, issued by Harmoniie SAS with Moorwand Ltd; Bybit EU GmbH (Vienna) runs the account and the cashback. RATE VERIFIED against the binding Bybit EU Card Cashback Terms (dated 3 Jun 2026, listed as updated 8 Sep 2026): non-VIP users get 'a fixed 1% cashback' with 'no monthly cap' (5 points per euro, 1 point = EUR 0.002), from 15 Jun 2026 12:00 UTC for new applicants and from 4 Aug 2026 12:00 UTC for cardholders who applied before 3 Jun 2026. It replaced 2% capped at 2,500 points (EUR 5) a month with spend-unlocked tiers; non-VIP users can no longer unlock higher tiers by spending. VIP users keep the tier table: Tier 2 (VIP 1 and 2) 2% capped at 25,000 points (EUR 50) a month; Tier 3 (VIP 3) 4%, EUR 150; Tier 4 (VIP 4) 6%, EUR 250; Tier 5 (VIP 5) 8%, EUR 400; Tier 6 (Supreme VIP) 10%, EUR 600. The help centre (updated 18 Aug 2026), the card page and the 2 Jun 2026 announcement agree. STAKES: VIP levels from the help-centre 'Bybit EU Trading Fee Structure' (updated 4 Aug 2026): an asset balance (total wallet balance, any assets) of EUR 100,000 (VIP 1), 250,000 (VIP 2), 500,000 (VIP 3), 1,000,000 (VIP 4) or 2,000,000 (VIP 5); Supreme VIP has no asset route. Converted at the ECB reference rate of 25 Sep 2026 (EUR 1 = USD 1.1403): $114,030, $570,150, $1,140,300 and $2,280,600; the caps EUR 50 / 150 / 250 / 400 are $57.02 / $171.05 / $285.08 / $456.12. An older help article (27 Jun 2025) gives the same thresholds in USD. NOT MODELLED: Tier 6, which needs Supreme VIP (trading volume only) or VIP status plus EUR 25,000 of monthly spend, and VIP spend upgrades (a VIP reaches Tier 3, 4 or 5 with EUR 3,500, 9,500 or 12,500 of monthly spend); the file format has no field for a stake plus a spend threshold, so each tier is modelled at its own asset threshold (a founder decision). FEES VERIFIED against the binding EU Card Fees and Limits Schedule (updated 22 Jan 2026) and the fee table in the Cardholder Terms (updated 8 Sep 2026): FX 0.5% on top of Mastercard's rate on spend in any currency other than euros; crypto conversion fee 0.9% on 'all transactions funded with non-fiat assets' (the worked example pays from USDC, so stablecoin spend pays it); no annual, monthly, inactivity or cancellation fee; virtual card free. Bybit EU's exchange-rate page showed the 0.5% markup on both USD and CZK on 27 Sep 2026, so non-euro EEA currencies pay it too; the model treats all EU spend as euro spend (no FX in the EU), which slightly flatters residents of Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, Norway and Iceland. CONVERSION MODELLING: conversionRate 0.009 assumes purchases are paid from crypto. The card takes euros from the Funding Account first, so a cardholder who tops up euros avoids the fee and keeps the full 1% (a founder decision). At $2,000 a month a non-VIP in the EU keeps about 0.1% (1% minus 0.9%). REGIONS: EEA residents only. The FAQ (updated 22 Sep 2026) lists 29 supported countries, every EEA country except Malta, which matches the ESMA MiCA register entry for Bybit EU GmbH (FMA authorisation 28 May 2025, passported to the same 29 countries). The Cardholder Terms define the EEA as 'excluding Croatia, Ireland and Romania', which conflicts with the newer FAQ and application guide. PAYOUT: USDC or BTC, chosen by the cardholder ('Cashback Assets are currently USDC and BTC'); USDC by default. Also not modelled: the new-user welcome offer (up to 110 USDC in the first 30 days), first-month 100% subscription cashback for non-VIP users (one time, up to EUR 50) and time-limited campaigns such as the 5% summer travel offer (ended 17 Sep 2026). VERIFY: the physical card fee (fee schedule and help centre: first card free, EUR 5 replacement; the Cardholder Terms fee table: EUR 10) and whether residents of Croatia, Ireland and Romania can apply. FUNDING (founder decision, 28 Sep 2026): the site models paying with crypto, so the 0.9% conversion fee is charged. Spending from a euro balance in the Funding Account avoids that fee (the fee schedule applies it only to transactions funded with non-fiat assets) and no clause excludes euro-funded spend from cashback, so a cardholder who tops up in euros by SEPA would keep about 1%. A real euro-funded purchase would confirm the cashback.
What's good and what to watch
Good
- 1% cashback with no monthly cap for every cardholder without VIP status, paid in USDC or BTC
- Euro card: no FX fee on euro spend, 0.5% on other currencies
- No annual, monthly or issuance fee for the virtual card
- Works with Apple Pay and Google Pay
- Bybit EU GmbH is authorised under MiCA in Austria; the card is issued by a French e-money institution
Watch
- 0.9% conversion fee on purchases paid from crypto, stablecoins included, which takes most of the 1% cashback unless you pay from a euro balance
- Rates above 1% need Bybit EU VIP status: €100,000 in assets (or €1 million in 30-day spot trading volume) for 2%
- VIP cashback is capped each month, from €50 at 2% to €600 at 10%
- Non-VIP cardholders can no longer unlock higher tiers by spending (ended June to August 2026)
- Custodial: funds sit on the Bybit EU exchange
