Annual fees, per-tier spend caps, foreign-transaction (FX) markups, and the requirement to lock up a volatile token can turn a flashy rate into a fraction of it, or even a net loss.
That’s why we rank by effective cashback, what you actually keep after every cost, for your specific monthly spend and region. What is the best crypto card for cashback?
It depends on how much you spend each month and where you live. A card advertising “up to 8%” often pays far less once you subtract annual fees, spend caps, FX markup and any tokens you must stake. Our tool ranks every card by the real (effective) cashback you would keep for your spend. Enter your monthly amount above to see your best match.
What does “effective” cashback rate mean?
The effective rate is the cashback you actually keep, divided by what you spend, after every cost that hits in year one: annual and monthly fees, one-time card costs, foreign-transaction (FX) fees, and the value lost on any tokens you have to lock up. Two cards can both advertise 4% but leave you with very different amounts. The effective rate is the number that matters.
Do crypto cards charge foreign transaction (FX) fees?
Many do, typically around 1% on spending in a currency other than the card’s home currency, and some charge a conversion fee on every purchase. A few charge 0%. Because this can wipe out a card’s cashback, we estimate each card’s FX cost for your region and fold it into the effective rate, so the ranking reflects what you would really pay.
Are crypto card rewards paid in stablecoins or volatile tokens?
It varies. Some cards pay cashback in a stablecoin like USDC (value-stable), while others pay in their own volatile native token whose price can fall. We flag which token each card pays in, because “3% paid in a token that drops 50%” is not really 3%.
Can I get a crypto card in the US?
Some cards are available to US residents and others are not, and availability changes often. Set your region at the top of the page and the comparison updates to show only cards you can actually get where you live, with the ones you can’t clearly noted.
Which crypto cards have an airport lounge, travel insurance or other perks?
Several cards bundle premium Visa/Mastercard perks like lounge access, travel insurance, concierge and merchant discounts, but usually only on a higher, paid tier.
