Our research notes
Pass 2, 27 Sep 2026: the maths inputs were verified against binding documents opened and saved on that date. FEES AND FX: the WebBank cardholder agreement dated 25 Sep 2026 lists Annual Fee None and Foreign Transaction None, the same as the 1 Apr 2026 version. Foreign-currency purchases are converted to US dollars by Mastercard at its own rate. RATE: the Crypto Rewards Program Terms (4 Mar 2026) set out how rewards are paid and link to the rewards tiers help article for the rates, which gives 1% on all other qualifying purchases, 4% on gas at the pump, EV charging, transit, taxis and rideshare up to $300 a month, 3% dining and 2% groceries. The official card page and three reviews agree, and archived copies of the card page from 30 Sep 2025 and 3 Jul 2026 show the same rates and $300 cap. MODELLED: one no-fee plan at the 1% general rate with no spend cap and no reward cap. No overall rewards cap is published, but the programme terms let Gemini set or change caps and rates at any time and say no rate is guaranteed. Category rates, the up to 10% Vault Rewards merchant offers and the paused intro bonus are not in the tiers. REGIONS: US only; the cardholder agreement added a US residency requirement on 25 Sep 2026. REWARDS: paid in the asset you pick (bitcoin by default), converted at Gemini's market price; the terms state no spread or fee on that conversion. Returns and disputes are recovered from future rewards or charged back to the card. Solana, XRP and Bitcoin editions share the same benefits per Gemini's card page. NOT VERIFIED: the Mastercard benefit tier (the card page says World Elite; the 2021 benefits guide was not read) and state-by-state availability beyond the help centre's statement that residents of all 50 states can apply.
What's good and what to watch
Good
- No annual fee and no foreign transaction fee, both stated in the WebBank cardholder agreement
- Rewards are usually credited in crypto at the moment of purchase, in BTC or another asset you choose
- 4% on gas, EV charging, transit, taxis and rideshare (first $300 a month), 3% on dining and 2% on groceries
- Metal card plus a digital card for Apple Pay and Google Pay
Watch
- General spend outside the bonus categories earns 1%
- The 4% category rate only covers the first $300 of that spend each month
- US residents only, with a hard credit check
- A credit line: carrying a balance costs 16.74% to 34.74% APR, far more than the rewards
- Rewards land in your custodial Gemini account and their value moves with the crypto price. Returned purchases claw back rewards
