Our own test

We're buying things with crypto cards in AUD, USD, EUR and GBP from October and comparing what each card takes with the mid-market rate. What this card actually charges will show here and in our Q4 report.

Where these numbers come from

Bitget Wallet Card's published terms, checked 27 September 2026. Where sources disagree we use the less generous reading.

Our research notes

Pass 2, 27 Sep 2026: rates, caps, fees, FX and regions verified against Bitget Wallet documents opened and saved on 27 Sep 2026 (evidence in docs/research/2026-09-27-q4-report/evidence/bitget-wallet-card). No cardholder agreement or fee schedule is public: the wallet Terms of Use (22 Sep 2026) do not cover the card, and Immersve's EEA and UK general terms carry no fee figures, so every number rests on the Bitget Wallet help centre and card page. REWARDS (help centre 'What is Bitget Wallet Card assetback?' and 'Card assetback rules and exclusions', card page, assetback blog 30 Jul 2026): 2% for all cardholders; 3% Booster for new cardholders and for those whose monthly eligible spend reaches $200 (EEA, UK, AU, SG, KR, JP, MY, TW, mainland China) or $100 (VN, TH, PH, LATAM, South Africa, Pakistan), applied to the whole month and the next. Cash-like MCCs (ATM, gambling, gift cards, P2P, rent and others) earn nothing. CAP: assetback applies 'up to the cap on your monthly eligible spend'. The cap is not published for new cardholders (the card page points to the in-app rules). Migrated users kept their old 0-fee limit, which Bitget's academy says was $200 to $600 depending on country; a January 2026 Bitget blog (since removed, Wayback copy) gave new users a standard $400. Modelled at $200, the less generous end of Bitget's own range, as a spend band with 0% above it; at $400 the kept rate at $2,000 would be 0.3 points higher. Booster is modelled with the spend-threshold convention (requiresStake 1 plus qualifyingMonthlySpend 200). The card page gives the threshold as '$200 to $400'; the help centre's per-country $200 is used (no effect at $500 or more). The new-user 3% for the first months and the up to $20 welcome bonus are promotions and are not modelled. FX: the card is USD-based everywhere. Europe, Africa and LATAM help page: 'Spending in non-USD currencies has a 1.7% conversion fee', activation 0.10 USD within 72 hours of KYC or 10 USD after, no top-up fee. APAC help page: 'crypto-to-fiat conversion fee of 0.05% to 0.2%' on all transactions plus 1.7% on non-USD (this was 'approximately 0.5%' in June 2026). Modelled as fx.rate 0.017 with conversionRate 0.002, the APAC schedule at the top of its range; EEA, UK, LATAM and Africa cards do not pay the conversion fee, so their kept rate is understated by 0.2 points (a decision for the founder). USD-using countries on the list (Ecuador, El Salvador, Panama) would pay no FX. The 0-fee refund programme (FX, top-up and conversion fees refunded on the first $400 or $600 a month) ended on 31 Jul 2026 and was replaced by assetback. ISSUERS: Bitget's academy names Immersve (EEA and LATAM, virtual only), DCS Card Centre (Asia, virtual and physical) and Fiat24 (mainland China). The physical card (49 USD, Asia-Pacific only) is optional and earns the same rate, so it is not a plan cost. CUSTODY: the wallet is self-custodial but the card balance is held by the issuer (the card still spends if the seed phrase is lost; Immersve's EEA and UK terms describe a USDC balance in an Immersve account). HACK: the 24 Sep 2026 Bitget exchange hack (about $387.5M from hot and warm wallets) did not touch Bitget Wallet, per Bitget's post on X of 25 Sep 2026; no source says card balances were affected. Verify the cap shown in the app for a new EEA, UK and AU cardholder before publishing figures.

What's good and what to watch

Good

  • 2% assetback for every cardholder, 3% from $200 of monthly spend in the EEA, UK and Australia ($100 in Latin America and parts of Asia)
  • Choose the reward asset: USDC, bitcoin (WBTC), gold (XAUt) or tokenised NVIDIA, Tesla, Google or S&P 500
  • No monthly or annual fee; the virtual card costs 0.10 USD to activate within 72 hours
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay; physical Visa card in nine Asia-Pacific markets

Watch

  • Assetback counts only up to a monthly eligible-spend cap ($200 to $600 depending on country; new cardholders see theirs in the app). This file assumes $200
  • The card holds USD, so every non-USD purchase costs 1.7%, which outweighs the capped reward for most spenders outside USD countries
  • Asia-Pacific cards also pay 0.05% to 0.2% conversion on every purchase
  • The card balance sits with the regional issuer, not in the self-custodial wallet (it keeps working if you lose your seed phrase)
  • No public cardholder agreement; fees and caps come from the help centre and the app
  • Not available in the US or Canada
  • Shares a brand with the Bitget exchange, which lost about $387.5M in a 24 Sep 2026 hack. Bitget says Bitget Wallet runs on separate infrastructure and was not affected
