Our research notes
AVAILABILITY UPDATED 2026-09-27: Australia removed from the regions where you can sign up. KAST's help article 'Which countries are restricted on KAST?' is reported in search results to list Australia and Japan, CryptoSlate's KAST review (updated 20 Sep 2026) says residents of 49 restricted markets including Australia cannot open an account, and cryptocardhub listed Australia, Japan and Singapore as excluded in June 2026. MEDIUM confidence: the help article now sits behind a sign-in, one search copy of the list did not name Australia, and an app account could be created from Australia on 27 Sep 2026 (card KYC not yet completed). A completed Australian KYC and card purchase would settle it and return AU to the list. Canada was already excluded; Japan sits inside Asia-Pacific, which stays listed for the other markets there. Re-verified 2026-09-12 against official sources (kast.xyz/legal/kast-points, /legal/kast-membership-agreement, /promotions, academy.kast.xyz). Rewards overhauled May 6–8 2026 (USD stablecoin cashback replaced Season-5 KAST Points 2/5/8% + 4% $MOVE). Premium earns +1% and Private +2% in KAST Points on top of USD cashback, counted here as upside only, NOT in the base rate. The spend caps ($2,000 / $10,000 / $40,000) are now OFFICIALLY published in the Membership Agreement, retiring the earlier $40k-vs-$50k conflict and its MEDIUM confidence flag; note the membership page's 'Cap ≤ $50,000 / ≤ $200,000' row is the USD Reserve Account reward cap, not a cashback cap. Tier name is now 'Private' (formerly 'Luxe'). Card variants: Standard = Visa Platinum, Premium/Private = Visa Infinite. FX: standard foreign markup 0.5–1.75% (country-variable, not tier-dependent; USD 0%), modeled at ~1%. The 0% FX credit-back promo ran 1 Jun – 31 Aug 2026 and is now listed as EXPIRED on kast.xyz/promotions with no successor, so the durable 1% estimate reflects the present too. TOKEN CANCELLED: the official points page states KAST is 'no longer planning a standard token launch for points'; investors approved exploring an equity-linked 'economic participation' structure targeted Q4 2026 (subject to legal review), with an alternative redemption or fixed cash payment where participation isn't legally available. Points are non-transferable and explicitly not tokens or financial instruments, but do redeem for memberships (25,000 = Premium, 250,000 = Private). Airdrop likelihood cut medium → low accordingly, and the old US/Canada/Singapore airdrop exclusions no longer appear. REFERRAL (official, Aug–Sep 2026): the REFEREE gets $20 USD after KYC + $100 eligible spend, plus $100 off Premium / $1,000 off Private on a first purchase. The '$100 after $1,000 spend' figure in this file was the referrer's cumulative ladder, not the referee's. STILL OUTSTANDING for a later pass: the Sept 2026 USD Reserve Account (idle-USD yield 8%/10%/12% intro by tier) and KAST Business are not yet reflected in benefits. Company is KAST Tech (Anjouan, Comoros) under Seychelles law; the 'Rain (Puerto Rico)' issuer attribution remains unverified officially.
